Our Philosophy

From day one, our concept was this - make it simple, make it work, and make it smell good. We manufacture everything in small batches locally, using high-quality ingredients and paying close attention to every detail. Kam Mitri, a master barber with over 20,000 haircuts under his belt, started his barbering journey in 2010. His humble beginnings have shaped his values, which he holds onto even today. As you read this, he’s likely crafting another perfect haircut. From Passion Project to Pioneering Brand, Kam’s fascination with 1950s hairstyling and traditional barbering sparked a passion project. He began concocting his own pomades in his mother’s kitchen, becoming a pioneer in the “home brew” community. His love for his hometown, Toronto, Canada, and his desire to pay homage to the 1950s era led to the creation of his first pomade, Union. Named after Toronto’s Union Subway Station, built in 1954, it tells a unique Canadian story. Thus, 19Fifties was born, becoming Kam’s pride and joy.
